Compositions - The Rutland Boughton Music Trust

The Trust is indebted to Michael Hurd for his work in organising Rutland’s compositions by category. These categories are taken from his book ‘Rutland Boughton and the Glastonbury Festivals’ first published in 1993 and since republished by the Trust in 2014. The main update being the inclusion of further photographs of the composer’s life. The Trust hold copies of Michael’s book which can be purchased for further details please see the Discography page.

The Royal College of Music

During 2019 the Trust decided to loan the paper archive of Rutland’s work, which comprises, original hand written musical manuscripts, published copies of his works and photocopies of some of the works, and numerous original press cuttings to the Royal College of Music. As Rutland was a former student of the RCM this was the perfect home for the music.

The RCM Library holds the works as part of their ‘Special Collections’. The works have been carefully curated and are stored professionally for five years (2019-2024). This means that current students and existing staff will be able to use this new material for research purposes. Some of these are available to hire for a fee.
